Boards are now sized at 3x3
Boards will be for sale for $50 - due at the time of taking the board
In case of rain, the event will not be rescheduled and your registration fee will be a donation or applied as membership to the HCAC.
Tents are being allowed this year. 10x10 max ! Smaller personal tents are preferred. The tents must be positioned at the back of your working space with the chalking space up front for crowd viewing.
Timeline for the Day:
8:00am: Chalker's Registration and begin working
10am-3pm: Event open to the public
2:00pm: Chalk Down (artists please leave your area and return at 3pm. You can use this time to load your car, get a bite to eat or walk around downtown)
2:00pm: Judging begins
3:00pm: Announcement of Winners
How it works
List of Supplies
These are some items that are not provided but have been found to be useful in previous years. Please consider bringing these items with you:
- Sketch with layout of your design and colors planned
- Comfortable clothes that are ok to get messy
- Sunscreen and a hat
- Personal tent 10x10 or less
- A card table to elevate your board and a chair
- If not using a card table, knee pads or a gardening pad as your board will be on the ground.
- Yard stick
- Baby wipes and paper towels
- Tools for blending (finger cover, brushes, tissues, etc)
- An EXCITED attitude ready to win !
Creating your design and Rules of ChalkFest
** All rules must be adhered to in order to be considered for prizes**
- You have between 8am and 2:00pm to complete your work.
- All chalk must be put down at 2:00pm. The results will be at announced at 3pm.
- All designs must be original and no Trademark images.
- Logos, forms of advertisements, numbers or words of any kind in artwork are prohibited .
- Designs that are discriminatory, divisive, or disrespectful to any person are not allowed. This event is designed to be fun and to bring the community together, not tear us apart.
- Participants will be provided with a 3x3 board primed with black chalk paint and a box of pastel chalk to create their design.
- Assess your artwork as to the colors you need and bring extra chalk as we will provide ONLY 1 (one) box of mixed chalk.
- Radios or speakers are not allowed.
- Only two chairs allowed per board (artists/guardian).
- You may bring a card table to place your board on.
- No fixatives or water may be used.
- DO NOT sign or put your initials on or around your art.
- At least one parent or guardian must be present with competitors under 17 years of age for the duration of time that they are drawing.
- While family and friends are encouraged to be with their artists, please be considerate of your neighbor with spacing. In addition, Parents/Family and friends are NOT allowed to chalk on an artist board to help. Friends and family may hold a ruler or hand the artist supplies or give advice, for example, but no chalking
Judging participants' work
We have a team of judges lined up to assess each entry in a non-biased way. Cash prizes will be awarded for all categories across each age group for those who adhere to All the ChalkFest Rules and Regulations. However there will be no cash prize for the popular vote, only a trophy.

The Popularity Award will be determined on how the public votes with their loose change (bills are welcome too)!*
*A custom trophy will be awarded to the winner of the Popularity Award.

Announcing the winners
At the end of the day, we'll take the results from our judges and guests and announce the winners! This will take place promptly at 3pm.
